Short Walk on a Long Pier

During the summer the streets in Port Dalhousie bustle with tourists and locals alike who come down for the many eateries and bars, shoppes and boutiques, fine dining, theatre, or just for a stroll along the pier that offers an excellent view of spectacular sunsets.

On the Western side of the pier is Lakeside Park, home to the popular Lions Carnival. Held at the beginning of July the Carnival also boasts one of the largest and loudest Canada Day fireworks displays!

Stroll through the park and you will discover a fully restored and working Carousel constructed in 1903 which still charges the same rate as it did back then – only 5¢ per rider. The Carousel normally opens for the Victoria Day holiday and remains open on weekends until mid June, when it operates seven days a week until Labour Day. The Northern edge of the park boundary is a sand beach with whispering willows and the southern shore of Lake Ontario.

Lakeside Park was also popularized by the Canadian Band ‘RUSH’ with a song of the same name. Some popular movies have been filmed in and around the community. (interesting read)
